ABOUT ASHLEY
Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I’m Ashley, author of character-driven Norse fantasy books full of action, magic, and romance. I especially love writing female protagonists who wield sharp swords and strong hearts.
My writing journey started before I could actually write—back in my preschool days, when I would wander around my house telling stories to a tape recorder. Fast forward to seventh grade, when I wrote my first 300-page novel, which just so happened to be a historical romance.
After studying history in college—including an amazing class about magic in medieval times—I became curious about my own heritage. One 23andMe test later, and I discovered I have a lot of Viking in my blood. So, naturally, I wanted to learn everything about the Vikings.
After college, I worked as a freelance writer, editor, and eventually a web designer—all in the video game industry. I’m still an avid gamer, with a special place in my heart for role-playing games that allow me to craft my own characters and live through adventures in fictional worlds. A few favorites include Skyrim, Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Tomb Raider, and Assassin’s Creed.
These immersive storytelling experiences inspired me to recommit to my own fictional worlds. After many years of collecting half-written drafts of novels and rough short stories, I finally published my first book in 2022: Song of the Shieldmaiden from my Daughters of Valhalla series. My love of Viking history came to life in this story, and I had so much fun writing about the bond between sisters, as I have a younger sister who is also my best friend.
In 2023, I welcomed a son into my family—my little half-Viking, half-Aztec boy who makes me smile every day. I absolutely love tagging along on all of his little life quests, and it makes me so happy to see that he adores books as much as I do!
Now, you can join me in the Ravens Keep, an online community where we explore the worlds of my stories through role-playing adventures just like the games I love so much! Everything from my past has come full circle, and I am truly living my dream life as an author now.
